Are You Looking for Nutrition Advice for Multiple Sclerosis?

If so, you may have discovered how much confusing and conflicting advice is out there.

I can help.

There are many “diets”, “regimens”, “protocols” promoted to be beneficial for people living with multiple sclerosis. But the truth is that no dietary intervention has been proven to alter the MS disease process.

And I get it.

As a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) living with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) for over 10 years I have made it my mission to understanding the role of nutrition in living well with multiple sclerosis.

I am passionate about sharing evidence-based nutrition research so that we can broaden the conversation beyond protocols and food rules which have never been supported by any science. In fact, often it is just the opposite! Food rules and restrictive diets only contribute to malnutrition, expensive supplements and fear around food.

I have first-hand knowledge of the variety of symptoms that my fellow MS’ers experience as well as the challenges that MS can impose on our lives and overall wellness.

I want to help.

Quality nutrition research takes lots of time.

And researchers have finally begun to look at the role of food in MS.  It will be quite some time until there are definitive answers. Dr. Google would have you believe that the “root cause” of your MS diagnosis is in fact what you have been eating. And that you need to make an immediate and massive overhaul to what you eat, including the removal of huge swaths of nutrient dense foods. Because your body actually requires these nutrients you will be encouraged to replace them with supplements that Dr. Google is happy to sell you. When you read these claims it is important to remember a few things.

There is NO credible evidence pointing to the role of diet causing MS or impacting the course of the disease.

Supplements are not regulated by the FDA. Who knows what is in those supplements Dr. Google has charged you a ton of money for?

Dr. Google has an enormous advertising budget, and the goal is to improve his/her bottom line NOT your health!

Some of the most impactful and health promoting choices you can make are not flashy, expensive, complicated or restrictive.

Because the only beneficiary is you.
